24K vs. 21K: What's the Difference?

Understanding gold purity helps you compare prices more accurately.

What should you know?

Karat expresses the proportion of gold out of 24 parts. In calculating the metal's value, 24K represents the base, while 22K contains about 91.67%, 21K about 87.5%, and 18K about 75% of that base. Other metals are added to improve hardness or change the color. Therefore, compare pieces of the same karat and the same net weight, not just the final price. These ratios don't mean every traded piece has been tested; check the piece's hallmark and the seller's certificate.

To apply the above, check current gold prices in riyals then estimate your piece’s value using the gold calculator.
