Why Does the Shop Price Differ from the Market Price?
Workmanship fees, retail margin, and taxes: what lies behind a piece's final price.
What should you know?
The market price is the value of the raw metal, while a piece's price may include workmanship fees, a selling margin, and any taxes applicable to the transaction. Workmanship fees vary by design, manufacturing method, and shop, and may be calculated per gram or per whole piece. Ask for an invoice that itemizes the weight, purity, price per gram, workmanship fee, and taxes. When selling, you may not recover the workmanship fee you paid when buying, and there can be differences between the buying and selling price.
To apply the above, check current gold prices in riyals then estimate your piece’s value using the gold calculator.
