How to Read Gold Price Movements
From the global ounce price to the local gram price: what should you track?
What should you know?
Gold pricing starts with the price of the troy ounce in the global market, quoted in US dollars. A troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams, which differs from a regular ounce. To arrive at the price per gram in riyals, the price is converted using the exchange rate and then divided by the ounce's weight. This price reflects the value of the raw metal and does not necessarily represent a shop's selling offer. When comparing, check the price's timing, currency, and purity before concluding that gold has risen or fallen.
To apply the above, check current gold prices in riyals then estimate your piece’s value using the gold calculator.
